CAR REPAIRS WITH A CONSCIENCE

LOCAL BUSINESS WINS TOP ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

Gladwin’s Body Repair Centre’s newest body repair business based in Peterborough has won a National award for its Environmental policy.

Gladwin’s received their award at the Automotive Management Awards ceremony held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

They were competing against other bodyshops, retailers and manufacturers in the automotive industry nationally.

The judging panel consisting of industry experts considered Gladwin’s policy to be exceptional “…in environmental consideration no stone has been left unturned.”

The purpose built bodyshop based in Orton Southgate, Peterborough was opened in October 2007 and is Gladwin’s sixth site in East Anglia as well as being its head office.

It was designed and equipped with environmental considerations from conception, and all areas of power consumption were considered in order to minimise output. The building was constructed with insulation that exceeds all current building regulations and the roof was designed with full width roof lights to provide excellent levels of natural light.

The car painting ovens were specially commissioned and built in Italy to exceed all current emission regulations. They use various controls to prevent energy wastage and the hot air produced by the compressors is ducted into the workshop for heating in the winter

Gladwin’s use 100% waterborne and high solids paint products which are totally environmentally friendly.

The Company has a recycling policy on all of its sites where all waste is segregated and a staggering 75% of it is recycled.

Gladwin’s Managing Director Harvey Death collected the award saying “We are immensely proud to win this award as it is recognition of the efforts we have made to lessen the carbon impact of our business whilst at the same time reducing our energy costs in these turbulent financial times”.
